Shop plastic free for the planet

You might be shocked to learn that on average Australians use 130 kg of plastic per person each year. And between 2017 and 2018, a total of 3.4 million tonnes of plastics were consumed in Australia alone. Many refer to current plastic pollution levels as a plastic crisis. While there are many big, system level changes that are needed to solve this crisis, cutting down plastics in our own lives is one way we can help and feel better about the situation. Switching to plastic-free, reusable products is one of the simplest ways to cut out single use plastic items from our lives.

Reusable products to get you through the day

If you’re a coffee, chai latte or tea drinker then you’ve no doubt used your fair share of single-use coffee cups in your time. Sometimes, we can’t help it. But bringing a reusable coffee cup with you on the go is a great way to avoid using a single-use one. we also recommend keeping a reusable water bottle in your bag, as bottled water is not only expensive but a big contributor to plastic waste. Speaking of water, another simple swap we love at Sassy Organics is switching to solid beauty products. A shampoo bar doesn’t contain water, so it doesn’t need to be packaged in a plastic bottle – and you’re not paying for water. You can even get plastic-free home cleaning products like washing up bars to keep all your cleaning routines plastic-free. When it comes to the end of the day, we use a lot of plastic: from plastic toothbrushes to plastic-packaged toothpaste. One of the easier swaps to make for dental hygiene is a plastic-free toothpaste like the Crush and Brush toothpaste tablets.
