Who is Macro Mike?

Macro Mike is an Australian company that creates all natural, vegan friendly health foods, including their famous Macro Mike almond protein. Sassy Organics is one of Macro Mike stockists from Melbourne.

Founder Mike Kellett, who is both gluten and dairy intolerant, knows that it can be challenging to find delicious tasting allergy friendly and plant based foods. So he took the best quality natural whole foods from every corner of the world and relentlessly experimented until he developed a range of products that taste great and are good for you.

Macro Mike is helping the vegan industry solve the problem of bland tasting food, while taking on the supplements industry that is full of nasty chemicals.

In the first 3 years of Macro Mike, Mike took his small brownie business from the spare room of his tiny apartment to where they are today - in the heart of the Gold Coast with a state of the art production facility. Macro Mike is now in over 1000 of the biggest health food and supplement stores across Australia.

Macro Mike business begun in in the spare room of Mike's apartment. Today, Macro Mike has grown to be one of the biggest and best loved plant based protein brands in Australia.

There are three kinds of protein powder

Protein powders come in three main varieties: whey based, casein based, and plant based. Whey protein is most commonly derived from milk and contains high levels of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). BCAAs are highly sought after by athletes because they're responsible for stimulating muscle protein synthesis. However, some studies suggest that there may be a greater benefit to consuming whey protein post workout than before or during your workout - so if you're on the go or don't have time to get in a session before hitting up the gym, then this might be your best bet!

Casein protein, also derived from milk, is another popular option for those looking for an alternative to whey but still want all of its benefits. Casein contains less BCAAs than its counterpart but still has high amounts of leucine (one of the essential amino acids), which plays an important role in muscle growth when combined with resistance training.

Plant based proteins are often considered 'cleaner' than other options because they don't contain animal products. They are a great way to get your protein intake up without having to eat meat.

It's also a great way to get an extra boost of nutrients, especially if you have a hard time getting enough vitamins and minerals in your diet. Plant based protein powder contains many of the same amino acids that animal sources do, but it also has more fibre and less fat than animal sources.

And if you are wondering 'Is Macro Mike vegan?', the answer is yes! The entire Macro Mike range is plant based and vegan friendly and their entire manufacturing facility is free from any animal based products.

Almond protein vs peanut protein

Macro Mike protein is made with peanut base and they also have almond protein powders. These can be a great alternative to soy if you're looking to avoid it or even just want something different.

If you're looking for a plant based protein powder that'll make your muscles swell and your taste buds sing, Macro Mike peanut powder is for you. Macro Mike peanut protein combines a cutting edge blend of perfectly crafted peanut, pea, and Australian grown faba bean protein to give you a taste experience that is second to none. This super high in protein, has a creamy and rich texture and is very neutral tasting, it's also grown right here in Australia and is 10 x more carbon neutral than whey protein.

Since not everyone can eat peanuts, Macro Mike made their protein powder with almonds and faba beans ā€“ and they are referred to as ā€˜premium almond proteinā€™. They contain many healthy ingredients, including vitamins, minerals and probiotics.

Their 100% natural Californian almond protein and Australian grown faba bean protein blend is silky smooth, full of fibre, vitamins, minerals and are combined with gut loving probiotics, B vitamins and nothing artificial what so ever. It really is unlike anything else on the market!

The main difference between the peanut protein and almond protein is the taste. While the peanut plant protein is rich and nutty, the almond plant protein has a milder taste. If you prefer a more neutral base for your shakes, we recommend trying the premium Macro Mike almond protein.
