Amazing Oils Frequently Asked Questions

Magnesium Gel Roll-On

Is this safe to use while pregnant? Particularly on the lower back to help with pain?

It is safe and there are specific benefits for mums to be. Magnesium is what helps your body repair maintain and build tissue. This becomes especially important when growing another body inside yourself. Medical studies have shown that a magnesium supplement during pregnancy can provide a number of benefits, from building strong bones and even preventing infant mortality. Calcium is responsible for all muscular contraction in the body through the actions of the main proteins in the signalling apparatus. Magnesium on the other hand is largely responsible for the relaxing of the muscles. We recommend using the Amazing Oils daily on your lower back and on the tops of your feet before sleep. In the third trimester we recommend only using on the feet at night.

Can this be used on children? In particular 9year old?

This product is absolutely safe for a 9 year old. For kids aged under 5 years old, we recommend the baby range.

What are the actual ingredients - particularly the type and % magnesium please?

There are two ingredients in the Gel Roll On. 2% is xantham gum (a natural thickener) and 98% is Amazing Oils famous magnesium chloride brine sourced directly from Australian Salt Lakes.

How much magnesium is in each application of the gel?

The short answer is: it is impossible to know exactly, but definitely more than oral (tablets/powders). The absorption relies on a huge number of factors of each individual's bodies, however, the measurement of bio-availability (how much taken compared to how much is actually absorbed) of topical magnesium is often 10-30 x higher than oral supplementation. This is why you will often hear that topical magnesium is 10-30 x more effective. A dosage is not required as it is with oral supplementation. An overdose can only occur with oral supplementation and will result in horrible laxative effects. Absorption through topical (skin) means it is not only more effective, but any excess will also be flushed out by the kidneys without any of the laxative issues that come with tablets and powders. We usually advise applying twice a day (5 rolls back and forth) per application) to combat magnesium deficiency symptoms. If symptoms persist, you can up the application as well as change the location you apply as well as the time of day you use it. It is unfortunate that the traditional measurements and advisements surrounding oral magnesium cannot be applied to magnesium oil accurately. For whatever reason you are taking a magnesium supplement, you will likely find much faster and effective results with a good quality oil, gel or cream. Also, you get to avoid the nasty effects of oral medication on the gut.

Is this gel ok for 4 month old baby? Or is the spray better?

For a 4 month old baby, we would recommend using a product from Amazing Oils baby range (the green colour) such as the new Baby Calm Gel Roll On. The baby range contains a lower concentration of magnesium suitable for 3 months old up to 5 yrs old.

Magnesium Oil Spray

Hi there, is your magnesium diluted with water? Are there any other ingredients other than the listed 'Active Ingredients'?

Hi, in order to make a spray or roll on then yes the magnesium is diluted with water. We do not add anything else except for the roll on where we add an organic plant based thickening agent, this slightly thickens the product so it doesn't spill out of the top. Amazing Oils bath flakes are obviously not diluted with water. Amazing Oils cosmetic products are more complex formulas and their ingredients can be clearly seen on the product pages.

Could you tell me what type of magnesium is this product please?

It is magnesium chloride, sourced entirely in Australia, we think we're the only one that uses pure Aussie magnesium.

Why does this spray sting my skin, when I spray it on my body? Thanks!

It's quite normal when you start the product but eventually subsides. The sting is an indication that you may be magnesium deficient (and that the product is actually working to remedy this). The stinging or itching occurs when the magnesium encounters a build up of toxins or heavy metals in the cells. The good news is that Amazing Oils will raise your magnesium levels quickly, which means after just a few days of regular use you may no longer have any reaction. You can try applying it to parts of your body that are less sensitive at first.

Some people prefer to dilute the solution with water (1 part water, 1 part magnesium oil) into another spray bottle for a few weeks, or apply the product after a shower when the skin is still wet. If you want to use a moisturiser with the product (we recommend coconut oil) make sure you rub the magnesium in thoroughly before applying the moisturiser or you will block the magnesium from absorbing.

Another gentle option is to use the Amazing Oils Magnesium Bath Flakes for a few baths (to raise your magnesium levels) before going on to the spray. We recommend starting gently with the sprays, just one spray on the tops of each foot at night for the first few times. Amazing Oils is from pristine salt lakes in the deserts of Australia, so the quality is very high. Magnesium Oil being a natural substance often contains trace elements that can enhance the sensations effect. We have been getting great feedback from sensitive users using the Magnesium Pro Spray, which was lab made with pharmaceutical grade magnesium.

Hi how do I know how much I am absorbing? I have been told I should take 500 milligrams daily of citrate glycinate? Would the Magnesium Oil spray do this?

It's a really important one in order to understand the difference between oral supplementation and topical. The bad news is: it is impossible to measure exactly how much you are absorbing. The absorption relies on a huge number of factors of each individual's bodies, however, the measurement of bio availability (how much taken compared to how much is actually absorbed) of magnesium oil is often 10-30 x higher than oral supplementation. This is why you will often hear that magnesium oil is 10-30 x more effective. The good news is: a dosage is not required as it is with oral supplementation. An overdose can only occur with oral supplementation and will result in horrible laxative effects. Absorption through topical (skin) means it is not only more efficient, but any excess will also be pushed out by the kidneys without any laxative issues. We usually advise between 5-10 sprays a day to combat magnesium deficiency symptoms. If symptoms persist, you can up the number of sprays as well as change the location you spray and the time of day you apply. It is unfortunate that the traditional measurements and advisements surrounding oral magnesium cannot be applied to magnesium oil. For whatever reason you are taking a magnesium supplement, you will likely find much faster and effective results with a good quality spray.

I purchased a pack from you and am very happy with your product. I have always had a sleeping problem and after using the oil night time the recommended way I am sleeping so much better. My question is how on earth does rubbing the oil on tops of feet and behind knees work to relax ones body to enable sleep?

The tops of feet absorb more effectively than the bottoms. Your feet contain a lot of nerve endings which are instrumental in relaxing the entire body and behind the knee is a pulse point where absorption is fast. We also found that we get a slight amount of energy (nothing like a coffee) when applying near the chest area. So we often recommend keeping it below the waist before bed.

Magnesium Pro Spray

Just wondering what the difference is between the regular spray & the pro?

Hi Kathy, the pro is our synthetic version of the natural magnesium spray. It's lab made with pharmaceutical magnesium. It's less oily and the trigger spray makes the application feel more like a mist than an oil. If you're prone to sensitive skin or don't like the feel of the natural spray, the pro is much better. You're more likely to find the Pro Magnesium Spray in pharmacies while the natural blue you'll find in your health & wellness stores.

Magnesium Bath Flakes

Can these be used for babies and children?

Yes, magnesium bath flakes are safe to use in the bath with babies and children over 3 months old. I'd start with just a tablespoon of flakes, especially in a shallow bath. The full 1/2 cup recommended amount is fine for ages 5 and up.

Magnesium Baby Sleepy Toes Towelettes

Can these be used on children younger than 3 months?

Hi we do not advise using magnesium baby wipes until the infant is at least 4 months old, the skin is not quite ready for it until then.

Can the wipes be used on 3 yr olds as well? Is it as effective as the roll on for this age group?

The wipes are suitable for 3 month olds to 5 year olds. Above five years old they can transition to the full strength blue range. The roll on and wipes contain the same levels of magnesium and are just as efficient as the other.

Baby Calm Gel Roll-On

How many nights of use do you think it will take to improve baby's sleep?

Assuming you're using it correctly, it normally works within days of starting to use it.

Can you use this on a newborn? Or what age do you recommend to start using?

The newborn skin isn't quite ready for it, but after 4 months you're good to use it.

Does this only contain magnesium? Is there any other ingredients?

Yes it does. In the baby calm gel roll on, there is a natural thickening agent and that's it except water to make the magnesium liquid. Amazing Oils magnesium comes from a pristine Australian source and is not imported.

How is this different to your regular roll on? Is it just a different concentration of magnesium (half strength?) or are there other ingredients as well?

The Baby Calm Gel Roll On contains the same ingredients as the regular Gel Roll On however at a different concentration suitable for 3 month olds to 5 year olds. The two ingredients are Amazing Oils Natural Relief Magnesium (from Australian Salt Lakes) and xanthan gum (in order to thicken into a gel).

How many mg of magnesium will the child obsorb for one application?

Topical magnesium is not measurable in the same way as oral magnesium as it doesn't absorb through the gut. Actual absorption depends on so many different things such as calcium, iron and magnesium levels. The roll on gel is formulated to provide a safe effective dosage. The amount of magnesium used topically bears no relationship to the RDA as far as oral requirements are concerned. Use as much or as little as needed on the feet and legs before bed.

How long will this last with daily use?

Thank you for your question. The product is still new so we're still getting feedback on how long it lasts. We are expecting about 3 months of usage from one Roll On.

Fix My Face (Moisturiser)

Hi, is there anyway this product could be formulated with an SPF? If you are using it for your daily moisturiser it would be good to know it had am SPF rating also, maybe SPF#15 or #30?

That's a great suggestion and we love it when that happens, we're going to look into this. Thank you.

Hello. I am interested in purchasing the fix my face mosituriser. However I would like to see the full ingredients list. Are you able to disclose this please?

Hi and thanks for asking. Amazing Oils Fix My Face Moisturiser contains 22% magnesium as found in our other products combined with other incredible products such as coconut oil, shea butter & vitamin E (perfect for skin regeneration and fading age spots and lines).

I have perioral dermiatitis and can use very few products. Am wondering if your products will cause any issues?

We have a good history of great results with all manner of skin sensitivities. We do not have any reports exclusive to perioral dermatitis.

Ugly bits stick (blemish correction)

Is it safe to use the Ugly Bits Stick on skin tags on the eyelid?

Hi it is safe, but you need to be cautious as it's a saline solution and will sting big time if you get in your eye. The people we know who use it like this typically put it on a cotton bud and apply carefully.

How long does this product last if you use 6 times a day?

Hi, it's almost an impossible question to answer because it depends on how many blemishes and the type of blemish you are trying to tackle. The bigger the area then the less time it will last. You don't need to apply mush to each area and it dispenses small amounts but again we'd not be being honest if we tried to answer accurately because we don't know what you're using it for.

You say this gets rid of skin tags? I have very sensitive skin but any developing lots of skin tags. How quickly does it work? Will it cause a wound? As they are all in those skin on skin areas, inner thighs, under arms & under breasts.

The ugly bits stick helps remove some skin tags, but it doesn't always work with all of them. It doesn't leave a wound, they dry up and fall off. In terms of how quick it works, depends on how often you use it. We recommend 4-6 times a day to get results within a few weeks. Be aware that the magnesium inside is highly concentrated and should only be used on those small "ugly bits". Any use on the face should be treated with great care as it's extra sensitive to magnesium, test a small amount first.
