Some beauty packaging needs another way forward.
Beauty and personal-care packaging can combine small components and materials that some kerbside services do not accept. Before sending anything, check your local council’s current recycling guidance. If the item is not accepted locally and appears on our eligible list, begin collecting it for this specialist program.
We recommend waiting until you have a reasonably full recyclable box. Reusing your original Sassy Organics delivery box is a practical option and avoids sending repeated small parcels.

This program is for eligible empty beauty and personal-care packaging. It is separate from ordinary product returns and refunds.
Eligible empty packaging can come from products purchased at Sassy Organics or another retailer.
Remove as much product as possible. Rinsing is optional.

Collect a fuller box
Save eligible empty beauty and personal-care packaging from any brand or retailer. A reasonably full box is more practical than repeated small parcels.

Remove the remaining product
Make each item as empty as possible and do not send anything dripping. Washing is not required. If you choose to rinse an item, let it dry completely before packing it.

Include your details
Place a note inside with your name, phone number, email and postal address. Use the email linked to your Sassy Organics account so we can apply the credit.

Seal and post the box
The customer pays return postage. Address the parcel to Sassy Organics Recycling Program, PO Box 2665, Dunearn VIC 3175.

Receive your credit
Your credit will be processed within seven days after the parcel arrives. We will email when store credit has been added to your account.

The accepted list covers eligible empty cosmetic, hair-care and skincare packaging. The excluded list prevents unsuitable or hazardous material entering this recycling stream.

- Concealer tubes and sticks
- Non-aerosol hair and shaving-product packaging
We cannot accept
- Aerosol or pressurised cans
- Product contents or dripping items
- Biodegradable plastics
- Cardboard that belongs in ordinary recycling
- Electronic items
- Perfume bottles
- Hazardous, biomedical or biohazardous waste
- Nail-polish or nail-polish-remover bottles and contents
- Sheet masks
- Wood or bamboo packaging, including wooden eyeliner pencils

The sender pays postage. Place your full name, phone number, email address and postal address inside the parcel. The email must match your Sassy Organics account; if we cannot identify the sender, we cannot apply the credit.
Eligible packaging can come from any brand or retailer—not only products purchased from Sassy Organics.
After your box arrives
From customer details to specialist processing.
We use the customer details inside the parcel to process the eligible box and apply the account credit within seven days after the parcel arrives. We will send a confirmation email once the credit has been added.
Accepted material then enters TerraCycle’s Zero Waste Box stream. TerraCycle checks and sorts compliant waste by composition before sending it to processing partners. Plastics may be cleaned and converted into pellets, flakes or powder that manufacturers can use as recycled raw material.

How does the Sassy Organics TerraCycle recycling program work in Australia?
Collect eligible empty beauty and personal-care packaging from any brand or retailer, include your customer details and post the box to Sassy Organics at your cost. We process the eligible box through our TerraCycle Zero Waste Box solution and add store credit to your matching Sassy Organics account.
What can and can’t I send through the program?
We accept the eligible empty cosmetic, hair-care and skincare packaging listed above, including many plastic bottles, jars, tubes, pumps, closures and makeup packs. We cannot accept aerosols, product contents, perfume bottles, electronics, nail-polish items, hazardous waste, sheet masks, biodegradable plastics, cardboard or wood and bamboo packaging.
Do I need to wash or rinse the empty packaging?
No. Remove as much remaining product as possible and do not send dripping items. Rinsing is optional; if you do rinse packaging, allow it to dry completely before packing it.
Where do I send my box, and who pays postage?

How do I receive my store credit, and how long does it take?
Create a Sassy Organics account before sending and use the matching email on the note inside your box. Your credit will be processed within seven days after the parcel arrives. We will email when credit has been applied. Without identifying details, we cannot add the credit.
Is there a minimum amount or a limit on how often I can participate?
There is currently no stated minimum quantity or participation limit. We recommend waiting until you have a reasonably full box. Each eligible processed box with the required customer details can receive store credit.
