Macro Mike The Gut Doctor Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a long term product or just a 'once off' type of thing?

Think of Gut Doctor the same as you would a daily multi vitamin. Gut Doctor was created as a daily wellness and gut support sachet. It’s a lot easier to maintain a healthy gut than it is to revitalise an unhealthy one. A strong gut that has been given daily nourishment will be able to come back from upsets faster than an inflamed or weakened one. We ask a lot of this incredible part of our bodies so daily care and extra support is a no brainer.

Will Gut Doctor start working right away?

You can expect to get maximum gut benefits after continued usage at the recommended dosage of 1-2 servings per day for 2-4 weeks, however the vitamins, herbs and wellness ingredients will get to work much sooner. Some people find drastic improvements within a few days.

How long should I take Gut Doctor for?

As with all precious things, gut health is for life, not just for Christmas. Although we don’t expect everyone to take our products for life. We recommend continued usage whilst struggling to get on top of gut health or whilst wanting to maintain optimal gut function, performance and overall healthy wellbeing.

I heard that sweeteners and flavours can upset the gut. What do you use in Gut Doctor?

Artificial sweeteners and flavours can be tough on the gut however, we use natural flavours and the natural sweetener erythritol. Erythritol has been shown to be resistant to fermentation by a range of microbiota in the gut. Our natural flavours are used only in tiny amounts. We’ve flavoured and sweetened a 100% natural product that is highly unlikely to cause gut distress.

What does it taste like?

Pretty tasty really. You definitely won’t be holding your nose to drink it. Gut Doctor is naturally flavoured and sweetened with a subtle flavour, and it’s not sandy or gritty either.

Is Gut Doctor fodmap friendly?

We’ve recently had ‘The Gut Doctor’ accredited as ‘Fodmap Friendly’ in our 5g controlled doses and the inulin working alongside the powerful probiotics as an amazing prebiotic to help with IBS and other digestive issues.

My Gut Doctor clamped together when I mixed it, is this normal?

As we don’t use any emulsifiers or preservatives you may need to give Gut Doctor a little extra shake when mixing with water, clumping is perfectly natural and harmless. You can also try mixing it into smoothies or pouring over your breakfast, or whiz it in a blender/ protein mixer for 10 seconds, which will stop it clumping.

There's B vitamins, ginseng and vitamin C is in there too...what for?

Our goal with Gut Doctor was to make is as much of an ‘all in one’ gastrointestinal support, health and wellness formula as possible. Research has shown that when our guts aren’t performing optimally it can have strong affects on our brain and overall wellbeing. Our added ingredients can help with more of an overall holistic approach to Gut Health, realising that it isn’t just your gut that may be suffering.

Lactobacillus and bifidobacterium - what are they?

While there are countless strains of probiotics you’ll notice Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in Gut Doctor. Basically they’re the sciency names for two of the most beneficial and well researched probiotics that both have important roles in the intestinal system.

But why do we need both - lactobacillus and bifidobacterium?

Well.. The main difference is that Bifidobacterium produces an extra goodie called acetic acid which has the power of preventing the growth of yeasts and moulds in the gut. The overgrowth of these in the gut can cause digestive stress and other gut health issues so they have an important role in our blend.

What are probiotics? I know they are important for gut health but I don't really understand them.

Probiotics are a type of good bacteria that support the health of your gut. Gut and digestive issues often flare up when bacteria levels in the intestinal system are out of balance allowing bad bacteria strains to dominate which can lead to an overgrowth of yeasts and moulds. Providing the gut with extra support in the form of probiotics will aid in the restoration and maintenance of a natural balance in gut bacteria.

What about prebiotics? I notice they are in Gut Doctor as well. Do I really need those as well?

You sure do! – Like probiotics, prebiotics also have an important role in ensuring you have a healthy colony of bacteria in your gut and to ensure the efficient breakdown and absorption of nutrients/food. Inulin has been shown to help nourish colon cells.

Isn't inulin a high fodmap?

Inulin in medium to large amounts can be classed as high fodmap. It fit’s into the 'fructo-oligosaccarides’ category however as a pre-biotic it has some absolutely amazing results for people with IBS. We’ve recently had ‘The Gut Doctor’ accredited as ‘Fodmap Friendly’ in our 5g controlled doses and the inulin working alongside the powerful probiotics as an amazing prebiotic to help with IBS and other digestive issues.

Will it make me need to go to the toilets lots?

No, Gut Doctor is designed as an all in one gut support supplement to promote optimal gut health and therefore help your digestion to function as it should throughout the day – You should feel less bloated and better after meals, and It should help regulate bowl movements in some individuals.

I have IBS, is this product right for me?

Although IBS comes in many shapes and forms, one of the parts not often discussed is the mental battle and how stress can play such a big part. Along with having pre/probiotics to help soothe the gut we’ve also included some ancient herbs to help with the mental side of IBS. Gut Doctor may work better for some IBS suffers than others, but in terms of an overall Gut and Wellbeing sachet, it’s benefits are universal.

What kind of diet do you recommend to go along side Gut Doctor?

Although Gut Doctor is super effective on it’s own, there’s no denying that if you are Gluten or Dairy intolerant or have gut issues relating to other food intolerances that you fail to address this will struggle to fix your gut. We’re not saying it’s a magic formula, but it is most definitely provides the keys to the kingdom of gut health. We recommend looking into an elimination diet to identify the trigger foods which are causing the repeating issues with your gut.

Can I stack with any other Macro Mike product?

Of course, all our products are gut friendly, made without gluten and diary which can be 2 of the main triggers causing gut issues. We recommend replacing any milk/ dairy proteins with our protein powder and then cut out any supplements containing artificial ingredients which you may be taking.

When is the best time to consume?

We recommend consuming Gut Doctor within 30 mins of a meal. Generally it works well first thing in the morning then again around lunch time. The ginseng will also help with some added brain power without the use of stimulants.
