New Year, New You I Sassy Organics

It’s now officially 2017 and I’ve got a really good feeling about this year. I hope you do too! :) If there was ever a time to make a fresh start, now is the time. But how can you make sure this New Year’s resolution actually sticks? The key is it make your goals achievable. It can be as simple as making small steps every day to improve your health.

Where do I start?

You can start by going through current skin care and beauty products and throwing out anything that might be dangerous to your health. (For more information on chemicals in beauty products, see my earlier posts.) I’m not saying you have to go cold turkey and throw away absolutely everything, but start making the changes now. Follow my tips on how to transition to natural and organic beauty and skin care products.

Six easy steps

Start with body lotion, face cream and cleansers. These are the easiest to swap for natural products and you will most likely notice a difference in your skin’s appearance and aroma that you will love so much more than commercial products. You can also get some really great priced brands such as Acure Organics and Eco by Sonya which make the transition less stressful on your wallet.
Next up, body wash. Natural body wash will not lather the same as commercial brands (remember - those that lather, do not slather!) however they still leave you just as clean and beautiful (if not more) than anybody wash you may buy at the supermarket. No 3 on my list is natural hair care. It takes a little getting used to when you first make the switch to natural shampoos and conditioners, as they don’t lather and foam like we’re all used to. It is definitely worth the transition though, as your hair will literally grow faster and you will have less hair fall out when you use products which nourish your scalp and hair follicle. Acure hair range is absolutely perfect for all hair types and will leave your hair looking clean, shiny and nourished.
Fake tan! See my earlier post to learn about the dangers of commercial fake tan. Eco Tan do the most superb natural fake tan. Next on the list is natural sunscreen. Being a tad greasier and oiler than commercial sunscreen, this too can take a bit of getting used to, but it is so important to avoid putting chemicals on the skin and then heating them up in the sun (again, see my earlier post re sunscreens).
Last but not least, natural deodorant! I’ve saved this one to last because, especially during summer, a natural deodorant just doesn’t work the same way as an aluminium based deodorant. Some great brands that we stock do come pretty darn close though. In particular, my favourite is Black Chicken Remedies Axilla Natural deodorant paste.
